Birthdays Galore!

An action packed weekend of sorts, full of birthday food and (not-so) surprises. Started off with dim sum at Dynasty (downstairs at the thriving Vallco Mall) for my Dad’s birthday, with all the Kuos plus Marcia in attendance. Then we made a trek to get some desserts for Gina’s “surprise” party. I use that term loosely because, even thought Gina was eventually “surprised”, the operation was a comical disaster. Ben and Marcia arranged for people to come over at 7:30, since Gina was out to the symphony with Aud and some of her students, and supposedly they were to go out to dinner afterwards. Trouble is, Gina decided to come home. So here we are, Marcia, Nicole and I, sitting in the kitchen, trying to figure out what to do, and G comes home. Wellp, surprise, Nicole came to visit! G says, “Hey, cool!”, and doesn’t think much of it, just that it’s nice to have a visitor! Then Ben comes over, rings the door bell, and lo and behold, Gina opens the door! Ben responds, “Ahhhh, ummmm, I was just in the area and decided to visit…” It works, and the evening continues. After my cooking experiment with three preparations of Ecuadorean Tilapia from Costco, we proceed to bring out a bunch of chocolate desserts and the Apple-Cranberry cobbler (also from Costco) and say, “Surprise!” Happy birthday.

To top it off, the old MV gang got together to celebrate Remy’s birthday Sunday night. Indecision on food eventually brought us to Max’s at Westgate, and I had the hugest chicken salad I’ve ever seen. I think the ratio of chicken to salad was almost 1:1. It was fantastic! We ended up at Jeremy’s and played some fiercely confusing six person, three deck + 1 expansion deck Munchkin. Sorry bout the rule snafus.

Last, but certainly not least, I love Marcia! She rocks, and I hope she reads this, cause then she’ll know I wrote about her here. It’s always the most fun doing stuff with her, and she makes me laugh like no other. She’s crazy, I tell you, crazy! And now she wears contacts. I get confused now when I see her in glasses. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
