…comes from the Father above. What a weekend! Marcia and I kicked it off with a great LTG where we got a chance to walk through Philippians 4, talking about reconciling relationships, and then to pray for some of our community. Fantastic! I woke up on Saturday morning with a sore throat, feeling kind of under the weather, but no delays – we were on a mission. Nathan had told us about an opportunity to get furniture at heavily discounted prices from one of the home developments his company worked on. You know those model homes that they have with all that nice furniture? Well, when they sell all the homes in the development, they’ve got no more need for those homes, so they sell that stuff, cheep! So, we trek out to meet the Carlson’s out in Bay Point (which, until Saturday, I didn’t know as anything more than a BART stop) to look at the stuff. And BOOM, right away, at opening at 9am, people were off. A flurry of activity. To claim an item, you had to pull off the bottom half of the tag. Then, there they were, in model home #2, two identical Pottery Barn loveseats. Retail price? Around $1,000. Tag price? $1,000. Tag price? $250. Not only that, but Nathan’s employee discount snags us another 25% off. We grab both of those, and a matching chair (~$899), for a grand total of $468.75. Praise the Lord! That’s less than one couch we were looking at. Every good and perfect gift…
Then Sunday, sore throat and all, went to lead worship with Ted and Aaron at Solano Church Community, to give their team a break while they launch their church plant. The Lord certainly enabled me to sing, props to Jesus! What a great community they’ve got there! Pastor Andrew is a gifted speaker and really cool guy, their meeting space is open and warm, and the people were very welcoming and encouraging. If you’re up in the Berkeley area and looking for a church, give ‘em a test run!
