A while back, I started my foray into medium format, with a Mamiya 6, a rangefinder camera that’s about as big as my F100, but shooting on a much larger negative – a 6cm x 6cm square. By comparison, 35mm frames are 36mm x 24mm. Basically, medium format is about 2.5 times larger than 35mm, yielding a much more detailed image. You can’t tell from this scan, but if you saw the original slide, you’d say, “Wow! That’s nice.” Here’s a shot from my Costa Rica trip back in April.
