Can ignorance be bliss?

I don’t know if this is really a great way to look at things, but when it comes to IT and computer stuff, I actually believe that ignorance can actually be bliss. You see, all day long, I work on computers and servers for the school, trying to get everything exactly right. Being a semi-perfectionist, I’ll sit there and go crazy until it’s exactly the way I want it. Some of you programmers out there, I know you can relate.

But when it comes to some of this IT stuff, sometimes it’s better that I don’t know something is wrong. Take yesterday, for instance. I left work thinking that everything I’d worked on that day was working the way I wanted. If something went wrong between when I left and when I get in this morning, and I didn’t know about it, I’d still be okay at home, because I didn’t know. Of course anything that does go wrong I’ll have to take care of eventually, but I guess for the moment, it’s cool. Maybe not the best way to look at IT, but hey, as my buddy Matthew put it, “That’s IT, hurry up and wait.”
