Carpet Maker in India

Found this shot in my Semester at Sea files – I was really drawn in by the man’s eyes in the midst of very tedious work. We stopped by this carpet factory in Agra, India, clearly a place where the buses would bring tourists eager to buy some local goods. Thing is, these carpets were very, very expensive. Possibly cheaper than what we could get in the States, but still…I wonder how much these guys actually got paid.

We learned a lot on that journey about developing versus developed nations, the IMF, and all that kind of stuff. Still make my head spin when I think about world economies and how things are linked together.
